Customer Review: I REGRET BUYING THE LE CREUSET STOCKPOT
I bought a Le Creuset stockpot for my wife. She used it a few times to cook rice, then noticed a big hole in the enamel in the bottom of the pot. The pot is not high quality like I thought it was.
Customer Review: Indispensable when cooking small amounts
This is a nifty little set, and I'm glad I picked it up. While these pieces don't serve all of our needs, they are what we reach for when frying up eggs for one, or other dishes for one or two people. When I unpacked the set, I was worried about the grainy, satin enamel finish on the skillet. But thanks to some good advice from other reviewers, there were no problems. I pre-warmed the pan over medium-low heat for a couple of minutes, then added butter and coated the pan. Then I added my eggs and cooked as usual. Nothing stuck to the pan -- the eggs slid right out, and the pan cleaned up easily with a swish of the sponge and a bit of dish soap. That's it! Don't let the finish on the pan deter you from buying it... just heat it gently before adding butter or oil and all will be well. High heat is unnecessary, as you'll discover. Using the Le Creuset silicone spoon spatula to lift out the food is gentle on the pan and works like a charm. Almost forgot... the lid for the 3.5-q...

Berndes SignoCast 10-Piece Cast-Aluminum Cookware Set

Made in Germany, Berndes SignoCast thick-walled aluminum cookware is both durable and distinctive in looks. Berndes uses vacuum pressure to cast its pots and pans, which results in a much stronger product than stamped aluminum cookware. Guaranteed not to warp, SignoCast cookware also features break-resistant glass lids, ergonomic phenolic handles for comfortable lifting and stay-cool stovetop cooking, and an oven-safe temperature of 450 degrees F. Berndes was one of the first household goods companies to institute a voluntary monitoring of its impact on the environment, and today goes beyond the requirements of existing environmental protection laws.

This 10-piece set will get a kitchen into cook mode in no time. Included are two small lidded saucepans, holding 1-1/4 and 2 quarts; a 7-quart covered stockpot for making generous amounts of soup or boiling corn-on-the-cob; 9-1/2-inch open skillet; 11-inch covered skillet; and 9-1/2-inch open sauté pan with sides high enough for brais...

Customer Review: Very pleased with this purchase.
I returned a pan set that I purchased on Amazon because the bottoms were leaving white residue. I ordered these as a replacement as a gold box item. I was heistant as there were no reviews at that time. I am glad that I made the purchase. These are very high quality pans that make cooking fun! The handles are a nice length and the lids have nice size nobs. Be sure to have a philips screw driver upon arrival as you will need to assemble the lids. They also tell you how to care for your pans and instructions upon first use that ensure longevity. I own an electrical stove and they cook very evenly on my stove! With this being the case, I am sure it would do amazing on a gas stove. Product was packaged very well and shipping was quick. I am having a very positive experience with this product!
Customer Review: Best pans!
I absolutely love these pans. I've owned numerous sets over the years, none compare to the Berndes, not even close. They cook even, perfect for my glass top due to the flat bottoms, and clean up is amazing! Inside and out, cleaning is a breeze. My mother-in-law had one small skillet that was a Berndes, that's how I knew about them. I went on-line to find them. Actually would've paid substantially more on e-Bay. Was glad I found them on Amazon. Wonderful value, the lids are great, overall a beautiful set. No complaints at all.

Customer Review: These really are the greatest pans!
We got these a year and a half ago, and they are amazing. They take all the abuse we give them, and they still cook amazingly evenly. We do hand wash them, but, don't tell my husband, I've thrown them in the dishwasher before. I've never used such an evenly heating pan, especially on a gas stove. I can't recommend these enough.
Customer Review: Overrated, don't waste your money on this frustrating set.
We were sold on this set from a local dealer who told us that these were the best and only set of pots and pans that we'd ever need. Like fools, we bought the pitch and the set. Here's the bottom line: We used them according to the manufacturer's instructions and 14 months later, they are performing terribly. Food sticks to the bottom almost every time. You might be thinking that we probably used a brillo pad on them, let them soak overnight or put them in the dishwasher (all of these are no-nos), but we didn't. And honestly, the non-stick surface was a mediocre performer from day one. And who wants a set that you can't load up in the dishwasher anyway? And no soaking? Are you serious? Afraid so. We should have read all the fine print first (as usual). Essentially, you have to clean them as soon as you use them and when the no-stick surface turns out not to be, you have to use a dish cloth to "scrub" them out. Good luck with that. This is NOT a lifetime set. Maybe, MAYBE, it wou...

Customer Review: beautiful minatures
I love Calphalon and I was very excited to get a set for the excellent price. When the box arrived I was suspicious of the size but hey...they are professional packers. The pots were beautiful and completely inadequate for cooking for a family of four. The smallest sauce pan could barely hold a can of soup. I packed them back up (and yes they all fit back in the box again) and Amazon graciously gave me a refund. Lovely pots but not big enough.
Customer Review: Does not live up to the Calphalon reputation
Calphalon has a very good reputation. I used to sell cookware at an upscale department store, and Calphalon was always one of my best sellers. Indeed, this set is attractive and well priced. It feels substantial and works very well--for a while. So, allow me to provide a friendly warning. Do not buy this set simply based on the Calphalon name. I've owned a number of different Calphalon sets, with this one being the most recent. I had the set for about three years before scrapping it. The main issue was the non-stick surface. It just does not hold up. It chips, wears off, and, well, sticks! Even when new, I was never happy with the performance of the course non-stick surface. I took good care of my cookware and did not use it excessively. I even used a set of Calphalon non-stick-safe utensils (which are junk, by the way). I got so fed up with the continued deterioration of the non-stick surfaces, that I finally replaced the set. I replaced the larg...

Customer Review: INDUCTION COOKWARE
I bought this T-Fal Professional Cookware set locally at a smokin' sale price several months ago and have been very favorably impressed with it - it provides a decently even temperature across the bottom of the skillet/pot and washes (by hand, of course!) very easily. What many do not know is that T-Fal introduced non-stick cooking to America back in the late 60's (or was it 1970?). Yes, I'm that old and I still remember the excitement of my first non-stick skillet! I've owned various brands of low to mid-range priced cookware over the years and I keep coming back to cookware made by T-Fal or Wearever. Now, I've learned they have merged -so I'll be interested to see how that works out. In the meantime, our family just took a LEAP INTO THE FUTURE of cooking by buying a Max Burton Induction Cooktop (by Athena). Thought this was better than spending $2,000+ for a new 4/5 burner induction cooktop to replace our dying 70's ceramic cooktop. This gives us a chance to see if we like ind...
Customer Review: Best quality I can find
The little woman says she loves these pans. The coating does not peel off. I was getting tired of buying and throwing away pans because their non stick surface was in my dinner. This set has a heavy bottom that cooks food faster than the regular pans. These pans are non stick on the outside also and are very easy to clean. I would have paid much more for this quality but these were quite reasonable to me. The red dot in the middle is a nice added touch to a very good set of pans. The lids fit perfectly and have the little breather hole. I think they are a nice looking set also.

Customer Review: Passed our crepe test
Very pleased with the appearance of these pans. Bought them in Crate and Barrel, got home eager to test them. Decided the perfect test would be to make crepes in the 10 inch frying pan. After heating the pan, I noticed the immediate formation of exotic colors and starburst design in the copper bottom; visually stunning. After seeding the pan with a thin coat of oil and heating it up to a fairly high temperature, I applied a thin layer of butter just before pouring in mixture. A thin delicate crepe with light brown crispy edges formed almost instantly. To my amazement the crepe broke free from the pan with almost no effort, no sticking. This was the easiest pan I have used to make crepes in 30 years. The handles are somewhat ergonomic, the copper is a delight and the overall design is pleasing. We chose this set over an all-clad set that seemed less ergonomic and we are glad we did.
Customer Review: You'll get what you pay for.
I was excited to get such a beautiful set of copper pans for such a low price, however, I was disappointed. They are lightweight (not much copper), and they don't conduct heat nearly as well as my more expensive copper pan. But what is even more disappointing than the food sticking (especially in the fry pans--I can't make a crepe in these without ripping it) is the horrible yellow color they are turning. While my expensive copper pan has developed a beautiful deep red patina, the Calphalon pans have ugly yellow and brown splotches all over them. I wished I would have just saved my money on the Calphalon set and bought just a couple of well-crafted copper pans instead (Mauviel, Falk, or Bourgeat). I feel like I got cheap copper pans at a cheap price.

Customer Review: A Superb Set
I did an enormous amount of research on pans when I wanted to register for a set for my wedding. I have begun to cook a lot in the last few years, but could never afford to splurge on a great set for myself. I had always used nonstick in the past, so I was originally going to go with the Contemporary nonstick set. That is, until I started reading about the health hazards, which I had never realized. When I decided that stainless seemed the healthiest way to go (not to mention the smartest if I wanted to be able to make yummy pan sauces), I decided to go with the Contemporary stainless (I immediately ruled out Allclad because I could not justify asking people to spend that kind of money on me). I saw the tri-ply set on websites, but it never looked very appealing to me, so I never paid it much attention. I'm not going to lie, I wanted pans that would not only cook well but were nice to look at. But one day I was in a local retail store and saw the triply set in person. The pictures real...
Customer Review: No Complaints!
We bought this set about 4 months ago after thinking and researching the purchase for about a year. Today, we couldn't be happier. Frankly, WE LOVE THEM! Pros: - Glass lids (not a feature found on the All Clads, mind you) - Even heat distributions makes for consistent cooking. - Handles don't get hot. - Food cooks faster, especially true when boiling water. - Really easy clean up (even fish!); I was actually shocked how painless clean up was. And to tell you the truth, we put them in the dishwasher and they look fine. If we want them looking really spiffy, we use a little barkeepers friend. - Speaking of looks, they are so very attractive! - Sturdy construction. Heavy, but not excessively so. - Great price (bought them from another retailer with a 20% coupon and a free $50 gift card bonus that we used on the same transaction). Cons: Um? Honestly, none! Good luck and happy cooking!

Nordic Ware Restaurant 7-Piece Cookware Set

An excellent introduction to NordicWare's Restaurant cookware line, this 7-piece set offers discerning home chefs the same top quality found in commercial kitchens. The set includes a 10-inch open skillet, 1-1/2- and 3-quart saucepans with lids, and an 8-quart lidded stockpot. Made from six-gauge pressure-cast aluminum, the sturdy metal spreads heat quickly and uniformly without damaging hot spots (an annoying problem with inferior materials), and the dark interior absorbs heat for faster browning and shorter cooking times. A quality nonstick finish effortlessly releases food and cleans easily by hand or in the dishwasher. Another plus for demanding kitchens: The heavy-gauge metal resists dents and scratching, and a concave bottom eliminates warping--so go ahead and put it to work!

Perfect for kitchen tasks great and small, all pieces feature extra-deep sides for greater capacity and reduced splatters and spills. The riveted handles have an extended reach and go safely into the ov...

Customer Review: Disappointed
This set was disappointing. Both saucepans and the skillet were badly damaged, as if the box were dropped on end from the top of a building. The stock pot and lids are lightweight, flimsier than I expected. And because all of them were to some degree oval instead of round, none of the lids fit properly. Several of the pots and lids also had minor cosmetic flaws in finish and/or small scratches. This seemed like a set of "seconds" quality, and since I wasn't willing to risk another set in the same condition, sent them back for a refund. Overall, I decided that it would be better to go shopping in a store where I could check the set for flaws or damage, pick them up, see how they feel. For the money, not such a great deal.
Customer Review: Amazing Set of Pans
We were shopping for a good set of cookware for a good price. The problem is that reasonably priced sets tend to be junk and/or have some lid gimmick making them impossible to clean. They also tend to have some weird size saucepan or tiny stockpot that forces you to spend more money and your stuck with a piece you don't need. This Nordicware set is the ultimate minimalist set. Only the things you need, perfectly constructed. The pans are thick aluminum and super-slick. We have experienced no warping or flaking non-stick. We even abuse these pans by putting them in the diswasher. The rubber handle covering can be slid off for placement in the oven. I couldn't find anything indicating the oven-safe temperature, but my guess is 350F is safe. The only complaint I could come up with is he lack of a 12" skillet. Fortunately, I already have a nice skillet and no need for a second. It looks like the price has shot-up since I purchased this set....

Customer Review: Best Value in Cookware
I use this cookware every day. It's my opinion that All-Clad is the best value for your cookware dollar, as you'll only buy cookware once. All-Clad has a lifetime warranty and I'd recommend that user/reviewer S. Flask have the unsatisfactory piece replaced. Beyond the basics of durability, this cookware heats evenly and quickly on all cooking surfaces (I've used it on gas, electric, and glass tops). I love that I don't have to think about what my pots and pans are doing, I only have to think about what's going into them. The bottoms of my pots (I've had some for 14 years) have always stayed flat; they don't roll around on the cook top. I love that the cookware is made in Pennsylvania (except for the lids) and I love that they are made with American metals. But more than all of that, I love that All-Clad has made my cooking better and easier. Oh, and it even cleans up well. I do recommend using Barkeeper's Friend on it with dish soap. Bark...
Customer Review: a few things to consider
i've been using this set for over three years now, and have been very happy with it. durability: no issues with handles coming loose, etc. almost all of the pans have remained even completely ding/dent free. my only complaint is that the bottom of one pan has domed slightly, so the pan does not lay completely flat on the burner, and heat distribution is affected. so while overall durability has been good, i'm knocking them down a point for this flaw. cooking: these pans perform well. with the exception of the one mentioned above, all conduct heat evenly. no problem getting good crystalization of fats from meats, or browning vegetables in the oven. i think you definitely need a wider array of pans in your kitchen - a nonstick and a cast iron are two i can think of right off the bat - as well as some different types of metals for different applications. but this isn't something that you can hold against this product. just understand that this set won't...

Customer Review: "Drive by" review
I don't know much at all about pots & pans, but I just wanted to mention a couple of things which may not have been mentioned before (I think it's kind of useless to read the same redundant feedback over and over and, well.. you get my point. We're all busy people, so in an effort to add something new, I bring you this mini-review! (sorry for the digression and cheap poetry. just can't help myself sometimes) 1. These pots/pans are of thinner construction than I was expecting. For example, I've got some Calphalon Kitchen Essentials pans from Target and these KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials are less thick or dense than those from that Calphalon hard-anodized collection. Is this a problem? I don't know. These KitchenAid pots/pans seem more prone to getting bent out of shape or warped, but I don't really know if this should be a practical concern or not. Time will tell. On the other hand, being of thinner construction, they are probably a little lighte...
Customer Review: Great Product
I was a little apprehensive about ordering this product. But since there were some favorable reviews and I had checked it out on consumer reports, I thought I would go ahead. Actually this is the first set I have bought (previously I would just buy unmatched pieces) that matched, and that I am happy with. I don't mind washing the pans by hand as they work quite well on my ceramic top cookstove. They recommend lowering the heat somewhat and I have found that the food cooks up well on a lower heat, with an even distribution of heat (that I didn't have with my old pans)the handles are quite comfortable, and the pans aren't too heavy for me. I had fx my elbow--so I am concerned about not having pans that are too heavy. I haven't used them in the oven yet so I can't comment on that. I was pleased with the price and the 2 day shipping. I'm glad Amazon had them available and for the price!

Customer Review: The best there is!!
I have been using Sitram cookware for years and have been spoiled. I didn't realize HOW spoiled until I decided to replace my set with something new and modern. Sitram was no longer manufacturing the set I owned and I wasn't thrilled with their current collection so I started researching. I bought a set of the highly rated Circulon but there was just no comparison and I sent them off to one of my kids. I had been watching this set for months and when it came up on Amazon Warehouse as an open box item at a fantastic price I finally pulled the trigger. I was thrilled to discover that this came with the NEWER lids that Scanpan is phasing in, they are flatter with a metal rim instead of the high domed ones shown in the photo. They are still glass so you can see the food cooking but they are not as bulky and are much easier to store. The only bad thing was that there were only 3 lids instead of 5, the smaller two sauce pans didn't come with any...the risk of open box buying I suppose. Fortu...
Customer Review: It did not last very long
We got a large sauce pan, 1 small and 1 medium size fry pans. I was very excited the first time we got our Scanpans. I saw and read about the new technology surrounding this product that supposedly to be non-stick for many years. Now we only have the big sauce pan left. We have to throw away the 2 fry pans. Well, to give it some credit, they lasted a couple of years before it started to peel off (actually not peeling off like a teflon. It starts to have some tiny holes on the surface coating which grows in size as you use it.
